How can I see It, and where? (2nd day) - Sunday
The second day of this conference on alternative film distribution and programming in arthouse cinemas in the Arab region looks interesting, with a focus on world cinema and documentary film. The conference comes at a pertinent time, as various urgent discussions and initiatives have been taking place on how to remedy the fact that very few films from other Arab countries currently get seen by audiences in Egypt. It is co-organized by Cimatheque and The Network of Arab Arthouse Screens in collaboration with Zawya and ArteEast.
How can I see it, and where? takes place at Townhouse Rawabet on Saturday 11 am-6 pm and Sunday 11 am-3 pm. Free entry.
The Professional - Friday
A temporary project hosted by Mazg where people are invited to come and work collectively on comics projects from June 12 to August 21. They will be working with other writers and artists including screenwriter and author Mohamed Ismail Amin, who has written various stories for Tok Tok magazine. The deadline for applying to be part of the working group is Monday June 8, and you can apply here. Supported by the Young Arab Theater Fund.
The Professional launches 12 June at 10 Mahmoud Bassiouny Street, downtown Cairo. It's free to participate.
Mahatat and Outa Hamra in Port Said - Friday
Theater group Outa Hamra will move around the streets of Port Said to entertain people and make them laugh. They are focused on people in difficult conditions, like orphans, working children and immigrants. The event is organized by Mahatat for contemporary art, which focuses on de-centralizing culture and arts in public space and recently organized the music from balconies project that caught the attention of many.

Yasmine Hamdan - Friday
