Avant-titre is a new series launched by Mada Masr, comprised of video essays on cinematic culture and the art of filmmaking.

In this episode, Ahmed Abu al-Fadl, in collaboration with Maged Nader, begin by defining the long take, illustrating the concept with iconic examples from global cinema. They then take us on a quest through the history of Egyptian film, highlighting a number of memorable long takes and drawing our attention to a few other examples that, although sometimes overlooked, have also had a palpable effect on viewers.
