Crash course in Egyptian cinema: Cinematology episode 2
Mada Masr has teamed up with YouTube series Cinematology and translator Amira Elmasry to publish short English-subtitled video essays on appreciation of Egyptian cinema every other Wednesday.
Cinematology is created by Mohamed Abu Soliman, and each episode explores subjects such as a director's peculiar style, a cinema icon's story or a particular film. Read Mada's introduction to Cinematology and watch the first episode here.
This second episode is on the visual motifs in Kamal al-Sheikh's Al-Less wal Kelab (The Thief and the Dogs, 1962), which is adapted from Naguib Mahfouz's novel of the same title.
