The superb struggle of Land of Fear: Cinematology 3
We've teamed up with YouTube series Cinematology and translator Amira Elmasry to publish short English-subtitled video essays on Egyptian cinema every other Wednesday.
Created by Mohamed Abu Soliman, Cinematology explores subjects such as a director's peculiar style, a cinema icon's story or a particular film. Read Mada's introduction to Cinematology and watch the first episode here. (The second episode is here.)
The third episode of Cinematology takes a focus on Daoud Abdel-Sayed's gritty masterpiece Ard al-Khof (Land of Fear), from 1999. It stars Ahmed Zaki as an undercover cop in the underground world of drug dealers. (Read our article on the film here.)
