Health Ministry reports 8 deaths and 110 new cases of H1N1

The Health Ministry stated on Saturday that 110 people have been diagnosed with the seasonal influenza H1N1 and 8 others have died between Tuesday and Friday, state-run news portal EgyNews reported.

In its statement, the ministry added that 593 have been admitted to hospitals with H1N1 symptoms and respiratory complications.

The ministry reported earlier last week that 8 people died and 182 were confirmed to have been infected with the virus commonly known as swine flu, with 873 showing symptoms of the disease.

Pregnant women, those over 65, children under two, and sufferers of respiratory diseases are most at risk for infection. The ministry called upon citizens to monitor any signs of flu that exceed a two-day period and seek immediate medical help if symptoms persist.

Among the symptoms of the seasonal flu are high fever, general body ache, sore throat, cough, runny nose, dizziness, and chest pain.
