When three friends accessed the lost archive of photographer Ahmed Badawy, its contents led them to rediscover Alexandria’s past, deepen their understanding of photography and its analogue techniques, and further develop as photographers. Now, the three — Abdelaziz Badawy, Ahmed Nagy Draz and Hazem Gouda — have reopened Studio Badawy through their work on its archive, organizing an exhibition of its photographs and using the studio space to raise awareness of photography’s role in historical research, society and art.
