Binti: Band of sisters goes back to Egyptian roots
Binti is a Belgian-Egyptian group of six sisters; Hadil, Yasmin, Amina, Rana, and Sherine and Fedia Holail grew up with a passion for music. The group was born when they decided a few years ago to unite their voices and call themselves Binti, which means "my daughter" or "my girl" in Arabic, and is inspired by their Egyptian roots. It started mainly as a vocal-acoustic band with six vocalists, one guitar and a flute. They interpret songs in different genres from reggae to barbershop and blues. Invited by the Belgian Embassy in Cairo, they performed at the ambassador's residence and at 100Copies music space in downtown in November 2013.
