Students report camel running loose through AUC campus
Students at the American University in Cairo were surprised to find an unattended camel wandering around the University’s New Cairo campus Wednesday, according to student publication AUC Caravan.
A video uploaded by Caravan appears to show the camel trotting outside the campus walls.
Photographs posted by the student publication also appear to show the camel, still alone, inside the campus gates.
According to AUC Caravan, campus security officials said the camel jumped out of a vehicle and ran through the gates. The gate, of course, could not stop the camel, the official reportedly added.
Others also took to social media to report spotting the camel
The incident comes just weeks after another unattended ungulate caused a social media storm.
In late April, a video of a lone donkey at Cairo airport was widely circulated, prompting a scandal about airport security precautions.
