Security prevents attack on petroleum and electricity companies in Suez

National security forces foiled an attack on petroleum and electricity companies in Suez, a source told privately owned Al-Shorouk newspaper.

The source added that security in Suez arrested 25 “thugs and convicts” who were allegedly hired by the Muslim Brotherhood to orchestrate attacks on police and military forces during the upcoming presidential elections.

“The Muslim Brotherhood has been involved in the deaths of several young Salafi men, and the proof is that 90 percent of the deaths in protests were shot from a range of a half meter to a meter,” the source concluded.

In February, 26 defendants were sentenced to death for manufacturing explosives and planning to bomb vital facilities in Suez.

The defendants are also accused of founding a terrorist group that allegedly aims to destroy state institutions, running a terrorist cell, and attempting to bomb ships in the Suez Canal.

The Suez Canal, a major global trade route, is one of the main revenue sources in Egypt.
