President Mansour grants state employees monthly bonuses
In another move in his last few days in office, interim President Adly Mansour issued a decree giving government employees a 10 percent special monthly bonus starting in July, state-owned Al-Ahram newspaper reported.
Although not part of their basic salaries, the 10 percent special bonus will be calculated based on this amount and will be effective starting in the new fiscal year, or as of the date of employment for new employees, without exception.
The decree includes state employees working in administrative facilities, public sector companies, local administration units, public agencies and other government institutions in Egypt.
The bonus however cannot be calculated as part of an employee’s pension.
This comes in a series of legal decrees issued by Mansour as his time runs out in office.
On Saturday, he issued a decree stating that the Egyptian flag and national anthem are state symbols and must be respected. On Thursday, he reversed 52 pardons that his predecessor Mohamed Morsi had issued for Islamist convicts.
