Libya closes border with Egypt
Libya has decided to close the Musaid border with Egypt indefinitely after a series of assassinations in the Libya’s eastern cities, MENA reported.
Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan said that Libyan authorities are coordinating with their Egyptian counterparts, and will inform them of those suspected of carrying out the assassinations.
The Egyptian ambassador to Tripoli, Mohamed Abu Bakr, has already been informed of the decision, Zeidan added.
He said that only cargo will be allowed through during the month of Ramadan.
Abdessalem al-Mesmari, a Libyan lawyer who campaigned for a civil state, was shot dead on Friday as he left a mosque in Benghazi. An army soldier and a police officer were killed in separate attacks in the city, a security official told AFP.
Protesters attacked the offices of Libya's Muslim Brotherhood, whom they believe are behind the killings, on Saturday.
