Khaled Ali awaits elections law to finalize candidacy

Adel Wassily, the head of Khaled Ali’s previous presidential campaign, informed Mada Masr that Ali’s current campaign team is in negotiations with other political forces, and that a meeting will take place next week. Former candidate and the head of the Popular Current Party, Hamdeen Sabbahi, will be among those political forces, Wassily added.

Wassily said that the former candidate and his campaign team are still studying the political situation, and the final decision will be taken after the new elections law is launched. He added that Ali's presidential campaign team is working full force and that "the public campaigns and Ali's young followers are pushing strongly for him to declare his candidacy."

Al-Ahram stated on Saturday that a meeting is scheduled next week between former presidential candidates Khaled Ali and Hamdeen Sabbahi. The state-run news portal added that the campaign teams for both candidates have not met yet.

Ali denied the allegations, widely shared recently on social media, that he is in talks with the Muslim Brotherhood to run for presidency as their candidate. Ali said, "This is a false allegation, there has not been any meeting or contact with the Muslim Brotherhood movement or any groups affiliated with it."
