4% separates Sisi and Sabbahi in newspaper election poll

Presidential candidate Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is leading his opponent Hamdeen Sabbahi by four percent, according to a new poll by privately owned daily newspaper Al-Watan.

The poll follows a series of televised interviews by both candidates over the past week.

Al-Watan's website hosted a poll starting Friday asking readers: "After the two interviews with Sisi and Sabbahi, who is the candidate who convinced you?"

By midday Saturday, Sisi had received 857,772 votes and Sabbahi 795,044. The votes translated to 52 percent and 48 percent of the vote respectively.

Sisi appeared in a two-part televised interview with hosts Ibrahim Eissa and Lamees al-Hadidy on Monday and Tuesday.

Unlike Sisi's pre-recorded two-part interview, Sabbahi opted for a single four-hour live interview conducted by presenters Magdy al-Gallad and Khairy Ramadan. Viewers were asked to tweet their questions using the hashtag “Ask Hamdeen.”
