Emad is one of three salt sculptors currently active in Egypt. He set up his workshop in Gaafar, a village in the Siwa Governorate, 18 years ago and has since developed a range of designs, which he carves from salt collected from lakes in the region. Emad speaks of the origins of the craft, the challenges facing it, as well as the benefits of salt sculpting.
