Hicham Rahma, 32, grew up in affluent Dubai and was mentored by Amr Selim when he returned to Cairo, working at Al-Dostour newspaper during Selim’s time there. Rahma became disillusioned with what he perceives as Egypt’s political inertia following the 2011 uprising, and decided that political dissent through caricature was futile. He now works for an advertising agency and illustrates children’s books, but very rarely makes political cartoons.
