Ahmed Nady, 32, showing his cartoon on the cover of the February 6, 2013 edition of Al-Siyasy magazine, formerly published by Al-Masry Al-Youm. The cartoon depicts the many Egyptian officials and religious figures who signed an anti-violence initiative that failed to denounce the perpetrators of violence against demonstrators in Egypt. The characters are shown naked and toasting with martini glasses filled with blood, a reference to the public stripping and humiliation by the police of civilian Hamada Saber a few days earlier. All print copies of the edition were pulled from newsstands by the publisher on the day of publication, and the magazine closed.
