Amr Selim, 52, is a revered cartoonist who actively paved the way for the next generation, heading the caricature department at Al-Dostour newspaper beginning in 2005. At the time, the department was famous for its pioneering use of visuals and for fostering new talent. Selim employed, among others, Andeel, Makhlouf, Hicham Rahma and Doaa El-Adl, and continues to act as a mentor to many members of what has become a vital generation of cartoonists.
