Copies of Egypt Independent, an English-language newspaper whose staff were fired in 2013, ostensibly due to lack of funding, but more probably due to the desire of its parent newspaper, the privately owned Al-Masry Al-Youm, to tame a voice that was highly critical of the military. It featured caricature prominently in its weekly print edition, and hired young cartoonist Andeel as its designer and chief caricaturist. Many of its staff members now work at Mada Masr, an online independent newspaper.
