Tawfiq, 31, is a father of two whose innocent, optimistic view of the world influences his cartoons, which have a playful, and often pastoral, aesthetic. Having previously shown support for the Muslim Brotherhood following the 2011 revolution, Tawfiq is one of very few cartoonists who took an anti-army stance following the military’s removal of President Mohamed Morsi on June 30, 2013.
