Ten Islamists killed in Sinai
The official spokesperson for the Armed Forces, Colonel Ahmed Mohamed Ali, said on Thursday that seven “dangerous Takfiri jihadis” died in an air raid in Sheikh Zuwayed in northern Sinai, and three others in clashes with security forces.
Ali added on the Armed Forces’ official Facebook page that two houses belonging to a terrorist group affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood were bombed during an air raid on Wednesday.
The names of the deceased are Soliman Ali al-Qarm, Mostafa al-Waashy, Magdi Eiweida Maghnam Oda, Riyad Eiweida Maghnam Oda, Youssef Eid Oda Ali Muslim, Hassan Hamdan Abu Gahman and Gameel Soliman al-Zerei'y. They were allegedly involved in the killing of 16 soldiers at a border checkpoint in Rafah in 2012.
The raid also destroyed a white Nissan, equipped with a machine gun and two other sedans, that was reportedly used in attacks on military and police forces.
On a similar note, three Islamists died in clashes with security forces in Sheikh Zuwayed. Independently owned newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm reported that the three assailants attacked an armored vehicle on the Gourra Road, south of Sheikh Zuwayed. Security forces engaged with them, killing them on the spot.
