Soldier shot dead in Arish
A soldier was shot dead on Friday in an armed attack on a mosque in North Sinai’s Arish, MENA reported.
A security source told the state-owned news agency that gunmen had targeted security forces, shooting a 21-year-old soldier in the head and killing him.
On Thursday night, one police officer and four recruits were injured when a homemade bomb went off next to the officers' club in the Delta city of Tanta, according to state-news agency Egynews.
The bomb was hidden inside garbage bins outside the club, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior.
Attacks targeting police stations and police officers have become a regular occurrence in the past year, particularly in Sinai and the Nile Delta governorates.
