Publishing ban issued for Brotherhood judges case

A publishing ban has been issued for a case against 75 judges accused of illegal involvement in politics and membership in the Muslim Brotherhood, reported on Monday the state-owned Middle East News Agency (MENA).

Judge Mohamed Sherine Fahmy said the ban was issued to ensure the investigations would remain confidential, as they involve well-known judicial figures.

The Judges Club filed a lawsuit before the Supreme Judicial Council accusing 75 judges of taking their positions to act in favor of the deposed president and his group, as well as joining the Brotherhood's sit-in at Rabea al-Adaweya Mosque, which could be considered a flagrant involvement in politics.

The lawsuit also claimed that the defendants had lost their credibility as judges by supporting the Brotherhood, and further accused them of "releasing statements that spread rumors and lies that threaten the Armed Forces.”
