Prime Minister says Egypt’s Cabinet is transparent

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb said on Sunday that the new Cabinet marks the beginning of an era of transparency in the nation’s history, during a press conference held at the Cabinet’s headquarters.

Mehleb added that respect for the law, hard work and discipline would mark the coming period.

The prime minister said that all irregularities would be firmly dealt with, especially regarding traffic and construction. “Today there are solutions to bring back order to the streets and deals are being finalized with street vendors by finding alternative spaces for them,” the prime minister said.

Mehleb thanked both the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Supplies for their hard work, adding that the Finance Ministry is putting the final touches to the budget.

“Each minister has started working on a specific program and soon the average citizen will see the changes.”  

The official explained that the Environment Ministry is currently handling the Nile file, while both the electricity and petroleum ministries will be facing some difficulties. However, he said that an increase in production is expected by 2016.

“We will increase our capacity and distribute energy saving lamps, but we call upon citizens to lower their consumption of electricity,” the prime minister said.

Finally, Mehleb thanked the ministers who worked with him in the previous government.
