PM appoints roadmap committee
Prime Minister Hazem al-Beblawi announced the formation of a committee tasked with following up on the political roadmap, the privately-owned Al-Masry Al-Youm reported on Tuesday.
The prime minister’s decree, published in the Official Gazette, stipulates that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Cooperation Ziad Bahaa Eddin, Minister of Trade and Industry Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour are members of the committee. The committee also includes members of the presidential team such as Mostafa Hegazy and Ali Awad. Political commentator Amr al-Shobaky and diplomat and novelist Ezzeddin Choukri Fishere were appointed to the committee.
According to Al-Masry Al-Youm, the committee is tasked with following up on the implementation of the Constitutional Declaration issued by interim President Adly Mansour in July, following the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi. The committee is also tasked with following up on the Cabinet's efforts to maintain security and combating violence and fostering the work of state-affiliated councils such as the National Council for Human Rights, the National Women Council and the National Council for Justice and Equality.
Choucri told reporters at a presser on Tuesday that the committee will work on making sure the government's vision for the democratic roadmap is implemented, focusing on dialogue with political forces. This roadmap includes political participation, building state institutions and ending the state of emergency when the security situation allows.
