Shortly after the first photographs of ousted President Mohamed Morsi in his white prison uniform circulated in the local media Sunday, The Freedom and Justice Party’s official Facebook page called on his supporters to photograph themselves, friends and families in white suits in an act of solidarity.

Morsi is incarcerated at Borg al-Arab prison while he faces trial on charges of inciting violence in December 2012 protest clashes.

His party, Freedom and Justice, posted a message to Morsi on its Facebook page that read, "your picture in white says a lot, prison for noble people is honor.” The group overlaid the pictures of Morsi in prison garb on a photo of former South African President Nelson Mandela during his incarceration.

Supporters of the deposed president also created the page "White is the color of glory" where the photographs people submit will be posted, as well as messages, including one that reads “only free people make their countries glorious.”

Magdi Qarqar, who heads the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, which opposes Morsi’s removal from office, said his group is determined to end what he called the bloody coup and to reinstate Morsi, privately owned newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm reported.

Qarqar said the alliance might engage in talks with the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, providing the negotiations revolve around mechanisms to end the coup and military rule, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm.

Qarqar told the FJP website that the alliance has given the government a two-week deadline to reinstate Morsi, but did not say what the group would do if its demands are unmet.
