Bombs defused in two schools and power station

A security official in the Ministry of Education, Ahmed Kheidr, said on Sunday that five bombs were found next to Khaled Ibn al-Walid School in Talebeya in Giza and were detonated by a specialist squad, according to privately owned newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm.

The source added that a homemade bomb was found next to Shiba School in Zagazig and was immediately defused. Kheidr said that the school day had continued as normal.

Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry said on Sunday that four bombs were defused in Haram District near a power station. Two suspects were arrested by the authorities — Al-Azhar student Karim Rashad and pharmacist Mohamed Tharwat, state-owned Al-Ahram newspaper reported. The attackers are believed to be members of the Muslim Brotherhood group, the news portal added.

Five other bombs were found in the vicinity of the station that supplies Haram district, Imbaba, Manial Shiha, Aboul Nomros and Faisal with electricity.

A bomb went off yesterday at a checkpoint in Mostorod, close to the Cairo-Ismailia agricultural road after unknown assailants shot six soldiers. The three bombs were reportedly placed at the scene to hinder the rescue operation. Two were safely defused, while the third was detonated leaving no casualties.
