6 jihadis killed, 10 arrested in North Sinai

6 'takfiri' (fundamentalist) jihadis were killed and 10 others were arrested in North Sinai, according to Armed Forces Spokesperson Colonel Ahmed Mohamed Ali on his official Facebook page. According to Ali, the jihadis were killed during a raid on a small village in Arish called al-Lefaytat. The arrested are currently being investigated for being allegedly affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood.

12 bases belonging to takfiri members were destroyed during the raid that also extended to Be'r al-Abd village and Rafah. Three tunnels in the district of al-Sarsouria and a pipeline used to smuggle fuel to Gaza in al-Nahhal district were also destroyed.

Last month, the army killed and injured around 112 jihadis in North Sinai; those killed were allegedly takfiri jihadis, according to the Armed Forces. The military also arrested 69 people, including alleged members of the Ansar Beit al-Maqdes group — a Sinai-based militant group that has claimed responsibility for several Cairo bombings targeting security forces in recent months.
