Mohamed Rabie was born in Cairo in 1978, and he graduated from engineering school in 2002. His novel Kawkab Anbar (Amber Planet, 2010) received the Sawiris Cultural Award as best novel by a young writer in 2011. Amm al-Taneen (The Year of The Dragon, 2012) was critically acclaimed in Egypt and elsewhere.
