Photographer Vanik Vernasa Varjabedian started his career as an apprentice in Alexandria. Eventually he moved his family to Cairo, and in 1952, built Studio Antar in Talaat Harb Square. He photographed many famous leaders, including President Gamal Abdel Nasser, in his studio. (He also photographed President Anwar Sadat at another location.) In 1970, his son Viken took over the studio and continues to run it today.
