Many workers felt vulnerable after the new investor decided to decrease the number of employees. A few weeks after the January 2011 revolution, problems between the Saudi investor and the workforce escalated. Employees began a sit-in and one of the managers slapped two workers in the face. Workers protested outside the administration building. The government later accused the Saudi investor of “manipulation of contracts” and seized the company.
