The School

Omnia Arfin 1 دقيقة قراءة

Beneath the slums of Cairo lies one school, Tawasol, that is turning lives around. Where poverty has abandoned their basic needs, these children are brought together through education. Despite its location in the middle of an informal settlement of Cairo called Establ Antar, Tawasol has been ranked one of best states school in Egypt for 2013. The school doesn't rely on volunteers, with funding coming from individual Egyptian donors, and currently seats 120 children aged 6-16 years for the elementary school phase. There are hopes to accommodate more students and provide intermediate and secondary level education. Tawasol is unique in that it offers cultural, artistic and vocational activities in order to help children earn money from the work they produce, helping their parents see the benefit in their receiving full time education. Tawasol offers these children in need a place to dream for a better future, offering them the chance at a happier life for them and their families.
