Reduced to rubble: Khan Younis (2/2)
The governorate of Khan Younis, the largest in the Gaza Strip, stretches from its west to its east, covering 54 square kilometers. It is the second largest Palestinian governorate after al-Khalil in the West Bank, which covers 74 square kilometers.
In the rural areas of eastern Khan Younis — which should be supplying its capital with harvested crops — Israeli forces have razed cultivated fields, destroying the agricultural wealth for which the area is famed. These rural areas near the Israeli border also house industrial complexes. Israeli destruction has extended to its homes and factories, including the Sharq factory, the only producer of batteries in the Gaza Strip. Throughout the eastern part of Khan Younis — from Salah Eddin road and encompassing the villages of Bani Suheila, Absan al-Kabira and Absan al-Saghira, Khuzaa, al-Zanna, Maan, and al-Qarara — the infrastructure of agriculture and industry, upon which the population is largely dependent, has been reduced to rubble as far as the eye can see.
