Supreme Constitutional Court selects its constituent assembly representatives
The Supreme Constitutional Court has selected its two vice presidents, Mohamed Shennawy and Mohamed Khairy, to represent it in the legal committee to amend the constitution.
Article 28 of the latest Constitutional Declaration states that a committee of experts must be formed to suggest amendments for Egypt's 2012 constitution.
It must include two members of the Supreme Constitutional Court and its commissioners' authority — a panel of SCC judges that weighs in on every case before it is ruled on — as well as two ordinary court judges, two State Council judges, and four professors of constitutional law at Egyptian universities.
The higher councils of the government and judicial authorities are responsible for choosing their representatives, and the Supreme Council of Universities chooses the constitutional law professors.
