Rocket attack in Sheikh Zuwayed leaves no casualties

Unknown assailants launched 3 Grad rockets on Saturday at Al-Zohour military camp in Sheikh Zuwayed in northern Sinai, according to privately owned Al-Masry Al-Youm. Witnesses heard a loud explosion in the vicinity of the camp; however, the rockets landed outside the walls of the military facility, leaving no casualties.

Army forces are currently searching the area for the gunmen, who immediately fled the scene following the attack. 

On his official Facebook page, Colonel Ahmed Mohamed Ali said on Thursday that seven “dangerous takfiri jihadis” died in an air raid in Sheikh Zuwayed, while three others died in clashes with security forces. Two houses reportedly belonging to the terrorist group were destroyed during the raid, in addition to several cars previously used in attacks on army checkpoints in Sinai.   

Meanwhile, Israel claimed on Thursday that Sinai-based jihadis launched a Grad rocket in Eilat, which the Iron Dome rocket defense system intercepted. Sinai-based militant group Ansar Beit al-Maqdes claimed credit for the rocket attack on the Israeli port.

In its statement, the group stated that they are responsible for a number of attacks aimed at facilities and security personnel in Egypt, and warned Israel of future attacks, independent Al-Shorouk newspaper said on Saturday.
