Military court sentences Brotherhood members to 3 years
A Suez military court sentenced three supporters of deposed President Mohamed Morsi to three years imprisonment, the privately-owned Al-Masry Al-Youm reported on Tuesday.
The three men were reportedly accused of breaking the curfew as they marched in a pro-Morsi protest. The newspaper also reported that the three men “were shouting chants deemed dangerous for national security through loudspeakers.”
Other members of the Muslim Brotherhood in Suez are also facing military trials on charges of assaulting members of the Third Field Army and burning armored vehicles in the wake of the dispersal of the sit-ins calling for Morsi's reinstatement.
Military trials against civilians have been taking place in particular in Suez, with the Third Field Army accusing defendants of assaulting them.
Human rights groups have expressed concerns about the use of exceptional measures, the extension of the state of emergency for two more months and the spread of military trials against civilians.
