The former managing editor of privately owned Youm7 newspaper was arrested at the Cairo International Airport on Thursday, the state-owned news site EgyNews reported.

Hany Salah Eddin Ramzy was checking in for a flight to Lebanon when airport security informed him the State Security prosecution had summoned him in a case related to the Muslim Brotherhood, EgyNews said. Ramzy is a member of the organization.

Ramzy was immediately taken to the prosecution headquarters.

Anas Habib, a journalist for the Youm7 English edition, told Mada Masr that “being a Muslim Brotherhood member should not be an indictment or a charge."

Al-Sayed al-Khodary, deputy editor of the Youm7 news section, told Mada Masr that Ramzy was vocal in his opinion that the events of June 30 were a coup, not a revolution.

“Ramzy is the 11th in a long line of journalist arrested since June 30, among whom are Ibrahim al-Darawy and Amr al-Kazaz,” Khodary said.

Ramzy was previously a presenter on the political talk show Hassad al-Osboua (the week's roundup) on Al-Hafez Channel, known for its affiliation to the Islamist movement. He was also a talk show host on the Muslim Brotherhood's Masr 25 Channel, which was shut down by the military backed interim government on July 3, the day former President Mohamed Morsi was ousted from power.
