A military plane that crashed on Sunday in Fayoum killing six faced a technical problem during take-off, spokesperson for The Armed Forces Mohamed Samir Abdel Aziz Ghoneim said on Wednesday.

Following preliminary analysis of the wreckage and the recordings of the final conversations of the crew, the general added that the C-130 plane lost control immediately after take-off. “May god bless the souls of the martyrs,” he added.

On Sunday, six people were killed and one injured when a military cargo plane crashed in Kom Osheem district in Fayoum during training.

Defense Minister Sedky Sobhy ordered the formation of a committee to investigate the reasons for the crash.

This is not the first crash caused by a technical malfunction in recent months. Last October, a military jet crashed in Luxor killing one person and injuring three.
