Conscript killed, four injured in Arish attacks
One conscript was killed and two others injured in an attack on their post in front of a military hotel in Arish, claimed a security source on Monday.
In a separate incident in Arish today, armed attackers allegedly injured two conscripts in front of a bank.
Armed attacks on security posts have been prevalent recently in Sinai, raising fears of the return of terrorist activity in the peninsula.
Last week a bomb went off in an Arish hotel housing police officers, the most recent of several such attacks that have regularly occurred throughout the past month.
The state-run daily Al-Ahram reported that police and military forces have redistributed their forces in Sinai, and especially in Arish, in an attempt to restore the security situation.
On Saturday, military leaders held meetings with community and tribal leaders in Sinai to discuss ways that area residents could help restore security.
A popular campaign was also initiated on social media aiming to help the police and military to fight terrorism.
